14 DPO: Implantation, hCG and When a Test Will Show
14 DPO means 14 days past ovulation. Here's what is likely happening in your body, and how likely a pregnancy test is to show a result.
What's happening at 14 DPO
Your period is due around now if your luteal phase is about 14 days. Most home tests are accurate from the day of the missed period, so 14 DPO is a reasonable time to test.
| Days past ovulation | 14 |
|---|---|
| Implantation window | 6–12 DPO (most often 8–10) |
| Earliest a sensitive test may work | around 10 DPO |
| Period usually due | around 14 DPO |
| Test result at this stage | usually reliable |
Symptoms at 14 DPO
Symptoms in the days before a missed period, such as cramps, sore breasts or tiredness, are very similar to normal premenstrual symptoms caused by progesterone. They can't reliably tell you whether you are pregnant. A small amount of spotting can happen with implantation, but many people never notice it.
